My College Major Choice
It was not hard for me at all to choose my college major choice. I had already set in my mind that being around younger children made my day. My major is Elementary Education. I also decided to follow in my parents’ footsteps, along with my family. I have always been around children because I am the eldest of six brothers. I always teaching them new things and caring for them as well. I specifically chose Elementary Education because I would like to teach children at their early stage in their education.

I am aiming for all great grades every semester and so on. With my faith, I know that anything is possible. Another short term goal for me would be to obtain a Work-Study job. I believe that I can accomplish this goal because I have had four internships and one job throughout my high school career. I have the experience and I believe that I will accomplish that goal next semester. My long term goal would be graduate Alabama A&M University with Honors with my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. After graduating, I will continue my education by receiving my Masters. I hope to find the best teaching career to teach and motivate younger children around me. No matter if the goals I have, short or long term goals, I will accomplish them with the support of God, family, friends, and …show more content…
I majored in Secondary Education and I did not specifically have a minor.
2. Why did you chose this major out of all the others?
I am the eldest of eight siblings. I have always been around children. I enjoyed taking care of them and teaching them. My brothers and sisters always came to me to get assistance with their homework and I loved helping them. That is when I honestly knew what my calling was.
3. “What do you want to be when you grow up?” We know that that is a very common question asked as we are little kids. Do you remember what your answer was?
It’s funny that you ask that. My uncle use to always tell me that I was going to be a nurse or doctor and that is what I believed. I believed that becoming a nurse or doctor would make my family proud of me, but I realized that as I got older that I had to do something that makes me proud.
4. What advice would you give me as freshman student?
I would tell you stay strong. Many students now a days quit just because things are getting a little tough. You have to stay strong and determined. As long as you keep the motivation, you can accomplish anything. I have had a lot of moments where I thought I wanted to give up, but I had to stay strong and push
When I was a little girl I knew that I wanted to be a Nursery Nurse like my aunt. I was the child who used to always want to play schools with my peers or the children in my family (poor things!). I also used to sit my teddies in a row so they could see the story I was reading them. I had my own display board for my children’s (teddies’) work. I created registers and my very own going home box out of a shoebox.
I want to do that to other kids and help them in the best way possible. Teaching is beautiful job that you can make a lot of beautiful memories in and meet and teach a lot of wonderful people. I always have done my work in time but the process is not always done the best way possible. I procrastinate a lot, which is the worst thing I could do. I always turn
After my child-care leave, I used my Professional Diploma in counseling to work as a college advisor and counselor and was twice selected Counselor of the Year. Teaching has been an important aspect of my family. My son, David, is teaching English literature and writing on the campus of the City University. My daughter, Sharon, who is severely challenged, is surely the best teacher in our family.
I got my undergraduate and graduate education degrees from University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. I have loved teaching so much that I’ve gone back to school to add new certifications and have taught everything from 1st grade to college! The influence of my parents and brothers, though always present, has been displaced by that of the family I have helped to create for myself. My husband and I have four children who bring us much joy and many challenges.
It is my responsibility to prepare all my students for a successful transition into adulthood. All of my goals that I stated can benefit my students and lead them into a brighter
Going into my Freshman year of college at Oakland City University, I was unsure of which major and concentrations to pursue for the next four years. During the summer leading into my Sophomore year, the decision of becoming a teacher crossed my mind. My passion for the English language and writing is substantial. Since my patience with young children is minimum, becoming a secondary education teacher or college professor is the better route to take. Therefore, the plan is to receive my masters degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in English.
I love to teach little kids and experience what kids in these grades are like and what they like to do. I remember when I was in these grades and I loved my teacher. They seemed like they knew what they were doing and like their job. This is a part of my inspiration of becoming a teacher. The main part is because of my mother.
This job really taught me about the importance of children having a routine to follow as well as the impact teachers can have on a child’s life. After my first year in college, I realized that I wanted to gain more experience with children of all ages. Shortly after,
Some people dream to be a successful and famous public speaker. Others want to be a millionaire or a billionaire. Singers as well as actors wish to be successful in their career and become famous. Teachers may hope to succeed in imparting knowledge to their students. Many students simply would like to pass examinations or have good grades in school.
I am pursing a degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. I am passionate about education and excited to share the joy of learning with students. The perspective of wonder and sense of excitement that children bring into education motivates me daily. Teaching can leave a lasting impression in a child’s life and offers a special opportunity to shape the bright young minds of future generations. While many professions can be impactful, I believe the qualities of the person in the career position to be the most influential.
Career Autobiography There are many things that I feel have led me to year number two of graduate school pursuing a career as a school counselor. For I while I tried to convince myself that a career in school counseling was not for me and ultimately everything led me here. My mother has been a school counselor for the last 25 years and I grew up watching her do something she loved. I went to school everyday and watched my mother make a positive impact on many of my classmates and this left a very lasting impression on me.
Growing up in a house with a mom who is an educator showed me the importance of education and spreading the love I have for teaching others and helping them grow as a learner. I grew up surrounded by classrooms from a young age. I would hang out in my mom’s room in the morning and after school while she worked. I loved going to school and never wanted to miss a day for any reason. I loved school because of the teachers and staff I had and I would love to be the reason kids love coming to school as well.
When I grow up I would like to be a teacher. I would like to speacialize in middle school teaching. Teaching would be a very good job for me but I will need to find related areas, pick what education I need to do, and see the future of the job I would like.
For me choosing my major it was very difficult, and it took some time to finally decide what I wanted it to be. Choosing a major took me about 2 years to decide one. It all started my senior year in high school, and I didn’t finally decide until I was already in my 2nd year of college. I had many different people influence my decision, but ultimately it was own decision and to this day I’m happy with my choice. The path that I took to choose my major started my
When I graduate high school, I plan on having future goals that I plan on achieving. My first goal is to go to college and get a degree.
