Speech for NJHS Induction Ceremony Good evening students, faculty, and family members! Thank you, Mrs. Reece and Principal King, for inviting me to this year’s National Junior Honor Society induction ceremony. Students, tonight we honor your achievements in the areas of Scholarship, Citizenship, Responsibility, Community Service, Character, and Leadership as we recognize and celebrate the choices, and at times the sacrifices, you have made. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "The reward of a thing well done is to have done it." You each have already done a lot, with many great things to come, so tonight we take a moment and appreciate your accomplishments and your potential! So, inductees, stand up and let us recognize you! We are proud! You are an …show more content…
However, I challenge you to avoid resting on your laurels and instead to keep striving to achieve even loftier goals. Right now, you have no idea, you can’t even begin to imagine, what you are ultimately capable of accomplishing. Dream big, imagine, challenge, push boundaries, never settle, never give up. Dream big. Then dream bigger. Dream big and then dream bigger because Scholarship can be much more than just getting straight A's. It can be a life-long love of learning that makes your experience of the world richer, more satisfying, and more productive. Dream big and then dream bigger because Citizenship can be more than being part of the greatest nation on Earth. It can be an opportunity to forge the future by voting, volunteering, and connecting globally. Dream big and then dream bigger because Responsibility can be more than simply doing the right thing. It can mean sticking to your principles to resist an easier, but less righteous path. Dream big and then dream bigger because Community Service can be much more than lending a helping hand. It can be a creative and timely solution to a serious
While we have grown together as a pledge class, we have learned that although the pledge process requires commitment and a lot of extra time, it has built us significantly. Our time-management skills have improved as a necessity in the context of our own maturity. Through these moments I am proud to justify that we will soon be members of an organization larger than us. This bestowal placed upon us is an outstanding privilege we shall not take for granted and celebrate respectfully. I am honored to say you have all changed me for the better.
On Nov. 11, Major General James S. Hartsell spoke to more than 100 students, faculty, active duty members, and Veterans at Saint Leo University’s Veterans Day event. The room was filled with Veterans from the community wearing hats and pins that stated “Support Our Troops.” As a marine for more than 30 years, Hartsell addressed the audience about the importance of Veterans Day. He continuously reminded the attendees that freedom is not free, and that everyone should be extremely thankful for our military and Veterans.
How does the maxim "Nothing is at last sacred but the integrety of you own mind" by Emerson relate to The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail? First of all, this quote is says that nothing can help you but your mind. If you have the knowledge than you shouldn't be afraid to speak out and follow your own path instead of conforming to what society thinks and believes. Only you can have the strength to reach your full potential and doing what you believe is right. This quote reminds me of Thoreau, of how he never conformed to what society believes.
Throughout reading “Commencement Speech, Kenyon College”, I found this short story very inspiring to read as I found myself doing more research for this essay because I was so interested in it. Wallace was very reluctant to give this speech because he wasn’t sure he was ready to talk in front of 400 graduates and what if what he had to say was ordinary not something that would stick with all these students the rest of their lives. Reading this speech through the first time the tone particularly stuck out to me, a direct yet casualness in the way he made his argument really made this go from ordinary to extraordinary. Starting off with water and ending with water tied the essay into one big loop with many messages within it but a central message central the main idea water. Water comes within many forms like ice, evaporation, solid liquid, colored or even clear and so many more.
Calling All Believers, Achievers, And Succeeders In the book Callings by Dave Isay, he presents stories about people doing what they love and overcoming struggle. Like Ayodeji Ogunniyi, Darlene Lewis, and Dekalb Walcott, whose story, inspire and motivates others to keep trying and never give up. If they really want to do something they 're passionate about, they should never let anything stop them.
The memory of each student’s accomplishment will forever be overshadowed by the mess of the Induction Ceremony that was originally meant to acknowledge them. I believe that the event could and should have been more smoothly conducted, for the sake of all involved. However, although the Honor Society Induction Ceremony was disorganized, I am still very honored to have been granted this prestigious award and would not have changed my decision to strive for it, if I was given the chance to begin
Let me tell you something you already know life isn 't always about sunshine and rainbows, sometimes it can be really hard and not always the greatest. It isn’t always easy when challenging yourself to accomplish new goals. One goal I am working on is becoming a barrel racer. I am seeing a lot of failure and I don 't give up on my dreams because it is my goal to keep on going till I achieve my goals that I set for myself. Why one is because of fear and failure and what if it doesn 't work out for myself and the fear of not getting to be successful at my dream.
The chance to be evaluated for the Sherwood Middle School National Junior Honor Society is an honor, and I 'm excited to try and take this opportunity, so thank you. I wanted to start out by saying, that if I’m accepted, I have plans of doing community service with some of my friends, and even if I’m not accepted those plans will not be changing. Throughout my life, I 've always tried for the best, whether it be my grades or my attitude. Reflecting a good mood to those around me is half of the battle after all.
My Values of becoming a part of the NJHS I am Lauren Forsyth and a student of Catonsville Middle School. I feel that I should be a part of National Junior Honor Society because of my dedication towards volunteering, leadership and citizenship. The following essay will demonstrate how I have dedicated my time towards volunteering, leadership and citizenship. As of 2016, I have dedicated myself to 47 hours of service learning and giving back to my community is a very important part of my life. In 6th grade I created a fundraiser to help breast cancer awareness to help find a cure for breast cancer and I had earned 5 service learning hours with two hundred dollars raised in total at my school.
To be among the esteemed students who are being considered for the National Honor Society is a privilege in itself. To be a member of this society, one that prides itself in strong leadership, excellent character, and a dedication to service is increasingly desirable. This organization is known for recognizing students with exceptional grades and characters, and I hope to further the impression it has made, as I have worked diligently to stand out among my peers. I dedicate myself to my schoolwork, and I feel that my results are a reflection of that. Last trimester, I received a grade point average of 3.9.
In Maya Angelou’s “Graduation” she spoke about a fictional character named Marguerite Johnson and her eighth-grade graduation. Marguerite was always kinda of lost and selfish at times, and never look at how others seen things. But as the story goes on Marguerite starts to find herself and understand others. “Graduation” isn’t just about how Marguerite pass on to the next grade but how she has grown from a lost girl to a young intelligence woman. In this story the reader is going to follower her on this surprising journey.
I am very honored to be a student that is considered to be a member of National Honors Society. I have wanted to be a member since I started high school, and I know that this organization will help me in the future. I have worked very hard to get to where I am, and I hope I can continue that in this organization. To be a member I have to show scholarship, character, leadership and service qualities, which I think that I have.
The Vice President of the Mills Park Middle School National Junior Honor Society is obligated to uphold a substantial leadership status and accentuate the five pillars of NJHS, amidst both their peers and respective communities. Furthermore, the Vice President ought to assist and collaborate effectively with the selected NJHS President. A President and a Vice President that can unite and take on a challenge together, establish an unbreakable bond that reflects remarkably on the society being led. This strong relationship applies not only to the President, but to the other officers and members of the National Junior Honor Society as well. It is the role of an NJHS officer to represent the voices of the students and form a collective opinion.
I am truly honored to be one of the many outstanding students at Seminole High School who are being considered for admission into our chapter of the National Honor Society. I feel that I fulfill the expectations of the Society because I exemplify scholarship, leadership, service, and character in both our school and our community. However, the pillar that I feel that I represent best is service. After more than 130 hours volunteering, I feel that I can truly grasp what service means to our community, and how that service exemplifies one of the pillars of the National Honor Society.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to possibly be a part of National Junior Honor Society. I would appreciate being able to be a part of this group to help better the school and it’s environment for people that work there. This would give me a chance to give back to the school district that has gotten me where I am today and has taught me so much. Scholarship, leadership, character, service, and citizenship are qualities not normally seen in every child today and are big shoes to fill.
