I am certain I can make it as a pediatric surgeon because of my skills, dedication, and ambition. I am good at solving problems and I am not afraid to make changes in my life in order to accomplish what I want. I have an immense desire to succeed through hard work and perseverance. I am always eager to learn something new about the human body. The human body is something extraordinary, its captivating how the human body works and what it's made of.

The more I don’t know, the more I know. The more I realize I don’t understand, the more I discover my desire to know more about psychology. My interest in educational psychology was triggered by my first experience in changing schools.

I have observed approximately 18 procedures with the majority of them being lab draws on 8 East. I have begun to move from observing to being active during labdraws by providing distraction and calming activities in 5 labdraws while my supervisor observed me and provided feedback. These procedures are recorded in my “procedure log” which include the interventions provided and thoughts that I had in response to these procedures. The second objective of this goal is to observe 5-6 patient and family tours of the cardiac areas. This objective has been changed from observing 6-8 tours to 5-6 tours at the suggestion of my supervisors.

This career appeals to me, because I have always had a profound love of infants and have cared for them since I was a child. This profession will give me the chance to connect with my patients on a more personal level. It will also allow me to have a unique opportunity to work with individuals from all different backgrounds. During these past weeks at the Archbold ER, I had the opportunity to put into practice many of the content learned in class. This included but was not limited to the proper placement of a Foley catheter using sterile techniques, insertion of an NG tube, and assessment of patients. Even though I attempted to complete some of my initial goals for this internship, I noticed that I couldn’t complete a few of them due to lack of time and lack of experience in the field.
