Out of all forty four Presidents that have served the nation and its needs, there is one President that has served as an outstanding leader. Rutherford B. Hayes was one of the most influential Republican presidents during the 1800s. He was the 19th president of the United States, and he served during one of the toughest but greatest terms during his election. Hayes looked at the war from many different aspects. First, he looks at the war with the mindset of if the war was to prohibit slavery it would then help preserve the Union.
