The ascension of Theodore Roosevelt to the presidency marked a dramatic turning point in bringing meaningful reform in America because he was the first ever president to lead hands on and believed that the government should serve as an agent of reform for the people. Roosevelt abandoned his Republican counterparts’ ideals of a ‘laissez-faire’ economy and turned to helping the American people through welfare programs and minimum wage laws. Above all, Theodore Roosevelt served as a voice for the masses and implemented what they had long desired. Around 1902, exposing the evils of industries, politicians and the rich and famous was a very hot industry.

The best way to describe Theodore Roosevelt is an “Original”, a man like no other helping shape and influence American history for the better. Mostly known for serving two terms as president and being one of the youngest president’s to serve in history, but he was more than that. What made Theodore Roosevelt special was that he believed in peace but just because he wanted peace did not mean he would be a coward and be bullied by others. He has even won a noble peace prize for helping end the Russo-Japanese war. Being one of the few faces found on Mount Rushmore he has earned his right to be remembered throughout history.

He was the 26th president of the United States and he is remembered for his transformations and important quotes which are useful today. Theodore Roosevelt was the most youthful president in the historical background of America amid that opportunity to be in office. Theodore Roosevelt was first affiliated with the Republican party but in some areas was clearly progressive or Democratic. Roosevelt’s platform, the Square Deal, promised government intervention to those who needed it and he sought through to it. He was the first president to take the side of the labor worker during a dispute between employee and employer. Roosevelt also became known as a trustbuster even though the amount of trust he busted paled in comparison to the amount Woodrow Wilson busted. The FDA was also created during Roosevelt’s presidency as the first regulation of the food industry in U.S. history.

At the beginning of the 20th century the political era revolved around progressivism. Mainly developing in popularity between both the progressive presidents Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson, however both presidents sought out with the identical motives while running in office, both differed in the methods and action of approaching progressivism. Though both presidents main goal was what benefited the general welfare of the people or supporting equality, Theodore Roosevelt encouraged a larger federal government and hands on approach. He idolized Theodore Roosevelt, and took great inspiration from him. He has served as president for longer than any other president in history, serving for three terms instead of the usual two that is generally accepted as the maximum amount of time that a president can serve. He drove America out of the great depression and through the second world war.

He we an amazing man thats did many wonders. He had plenty of accomplishments, impacts, and love. Theodore Roosevelt was such a great man that he got rewarded the Metal of Honor in 2001 for his actions in Cuba, but thats not as important as him curbed the monopolistic power of the railroads.  One of President Roosevelt’s major goals was railroad regulation. The Elkins Act of 1903 and the Hepburn Act of 1906 were passed during his presidency to curb monopolistic power of the railroads.

WWII threatened world peace and the Great Depression was actively wearing the U.S. away. Few other times in U.S history required someone of FDR's caliber to lead America through such a storm.
