I am strongly in favor of the proposition that public schools should require students to wear uniforms. In today's world, we are subjected to many prejudices, some of which stem from kinds of clothes we wear. If all students wore uniforms, at least one source of prejudice might be eliminated in schools because no one would be wearing expensive designer clothes while others wore second hand clothes that went out of style a decade ago. No one would be able to discern your economic status by the clothes you wore. Another reason I favor required uniforms for public school students is to increase students' safety at school. Today, it can be dangerous to wear the wrong colors or accessories such as bandannas. Gang members often take offense at an
Imagine going to school where you get to wear whatever you want. There are students wearing all types of clothing. Imagine a school where students get to express themselves and their individuality. Imagine a school with no dress code. This is the world we would live in if there was no dress code in schools.
20% of all public schools require some sort of uniform mandates. 22% of elementry schools, 19% of middle schools, and 10% of highschools currently require uniforms. Uniforms help most of the presented in school and you will see how. School is a place for students to learn in a safe enviornment without distractions or worries. Todays society is using clothing to express negitive thoughts.
This is one of those debates that happens over and over again. My judgement on school uniforms is a yes and a no. It would stop bullying over clothing but it basically tells the kids that they can’t express themselves at school. School uniforms would stop distractions but the children would feel like they can’t show their differences in clothing like some kids like colorful stuff and some have traditional clothing and some like certain things that they like to dress in. School uniforms are not a bad idea but the flaw is how the uniforms affect the students minds.
Recently, more and more schools all over the country have turned to dress codes. Some people say that dress codes teach professionalism and protect students. However, schools should not have dress codes because dress codes target girls and limit their freedom of expression. They also are hard to enforce and students break them anyways. First, schools should not have dress codes because they target girls and limit freedom of expression.
I agree with these students and I wouldn’t want to be forced to wear a uniform either. To begin, parents don’t want to pay the extra money for a school uniform. It’s extremely expensive and the student 's parents have to buy even more appliances on top of that. Let’s weigh the pros and cons of school uniforms states, “The cost of uniforms is prohibitive, especially when a family includes more than one school-aged child.”
It would be easier on teachers and students when they get out of bed to get dressed and since everyone would dress the same, people would know if there is a trespasser on the property. Students should wear uniforms to decrease individual appearance differences. More students get bullied in public schools that do not have a dress code. Research confirms that having a dress code makes it easier for students to get along with each other. Nearly 20% of public schools have a dress code.
In 2007, “87.9% of the students were opposed to uniforms at MD public school” (Wharton). There is a debate between parents, students and teachers about school uniforms being enforced in public schools since the 2000’s. Many people say that school uniforms shouldn’t be worn in public schools, while others disagree. Despite the debate, there shouldn't be a need to wear school uniforms. School Uniforms should not be worn because they violate a humans right of freedom of expression.
Many people doesn 't go against it or protest about it. Usually trying to make uniforms go away forever wouldn 't be easy for anyone to do since uniforms has been around for many years. Everyone should have their choice when it comes down to uniforms and also everyone should be able to speak about how they feel about school uniforms , even if it 's positive or negative. It would be better if everyone that has something to say about
Public schools should not be allowed to enforce uniforms on the students by reason of having uniforms gives students a message that their identity is not important. In the article "Why School Dress Codes May Be Harmful To Girls," by Claire Felter, gives an explanation about how school uniforms and strict dress codes are shamming students and having the students think that what they wear is not important. It also explains how some students are feeling degraded and/or diminished on the grounds that they think uniforms are a type of discipline. On page 1, Claire Felter states, "but the result is often institutions telling impressionable young people that their identity and the way they choose to present themselves is unimportant, rather than actually
Envision waking up every morning to put on the same outfit and walk out the door, stress free. People would not have to worry about what fits, or what is fashionable at the time. Schools would not have to worry about inappropriate clothing but at the same time, that clothing may be a way for a student to express himself. Many schools view uniforms as a solution to several problems, but many schools view uniforms as a lack of self expression. School uniforms should continue, even though children may not get to express themselves, because they prohibit violence, provide cheaper lifestyles, and promote better education.
There are three major positions on this issue. The first position is that student dress codes are necessary to produce a safe and productive environment for students, which will facilitate high achievement. The second position goes even farther, and says that dress codes should mandate uniforms for all students, claiming that the uniforms will make students focus more while removing concerns about fashion differences that would otherwise harm their self-esteem. Last, there is the position that school uniforms are unnecessary, and that they pose an unfair cost burden to families and restrict students' constitutional rights to free expression. Each side has some evidence in its favor, but ultimately the lack of hard statistics on costs and grading effects from dress codes make it apparent that more research is necessary to figure out what position has the best support for
School uniforms give students a sense of unity because they feel like they can fit in without fear of being too different. Making a dress uniform mandatory will decrease sexual harassment, create more interesting humans and make schools safer. A school uniform would make schools safer. The idea of wearing uniforms to schools was originally introduced to reduce violence in schools in 1996 by the Department of Education (Underwood, 1).
School uniforms, school uniforms have been debated among the states with tons of studies that say they help with school issues and other studies that contradict school uniforms have no significant change. In order to save money schools shouldn’t be adding more costs to school, school should be cheaper, its fundamental to all kids to learn and not for the parents to be spending more money on school uniforms especially with families on a tight budget. The issue of school uniforms has been around 1969 ever since the US Supreme Court issued a law that kids could protest if it wasn’t disruptive. Bill Clinton also supported this because he didn’t want to see kids fight over expensive clothing.
In conclusion, school uniforms are a great thing to have in schools. Even though there is that argument on whether school uniforms will violate the right of self-expression to students it will continue either way. At the end of the day students should see that there are more positive effects with uniforms rather than negative ones. It should be taking in consideration that the clothes a student wears will not determine the ability of learning, but why not pick school uniforms that can help stop current school
Should we have school uniforms? it’s hard to think that something as little as wearing school uniforms could help in how a student learns but if you think about it, it affects a lot of things. People think applying school uniforms restricts a students freedom of expression. However it is rather weak argument. Uniforms do not take away a students right.
