The state and region that individuals live in greatly determine their opinions on how gun control and amendment application should be interpreted. A study was done 4 months after the sandy hook mass shooting where children were killed, the study determined the belief of gun control after this tragedy. The researcher Kevin H. Wozniak found that, “ [only] a slim majority of Americans favors a semiautomatic weapon ban and proposals to make gun control laws stricter,” (Wozniak 2). Even directly after a mass shooting there is only a slim majority on a weapons ban. This makes it clear that the beliefs of guns in American culture are too deeply rooted and the county has become too dependant on them.

Within American ideals, laws, and opinions concerning gun control, firearms continue to be a critical matter in the government, schools, and communities. Notably, the nation 's government has attempted, and or passed, laws that inhibit guns in some kind of way. Now, generally the issue of gun control is viewed differently by either political parties; liberal Democrats tend to sway towards the side that is in favor of gun control laws, while Conservative Republicans have opposing views about these ideas. Therefore, since our nation is executively governed by Barack Obama, a democrat, the concern around firearm laws have intensified over the past eight years he has been in office.

Gun control is a major problem/controversy in America right now. People are getting killed and the way they are getting killed is by gun. They blame the gun for the murder, but I mean is it really the guns fault? That’s like saying a guy with no arms or legs was walking on the sidewalk eating something with his arms. Recently, gun control has been involved in places such Missouri, New York, Los Angeles etc.

Gun control has been a controversial issue for many years. Many citizens believe that if gun control is strictly enforced it would reduce the threat of crime. People have the right to bear arms for protection, or even just the pleasure of hunting and recreational activity. With the recent events involving firearms and mass shootings, people are skeptical whether to increase or decrease gun laws. Americans have a constitutional right to own handguns and stricter laws and licensing will not effectively save lives.

Gun control problems Nowadays, we can hear the crimes related to guns from time to time, and each of them is scarified and influential. For example, the accident happened in Sandy Hook Elementary School leads to 20 deaths for primacy school students and 6 deaths for staffs. It is hard to imagine what degree of sadness in their family may suffer. In this way, many people think the government should have stronger gun control regulations.

30,000 lives are ended with guns, this doesn’t include the families and friends affected by such occurrences. There has been a rise in the death toll of mass shootings and the frequency of them, the deadliest only occurred last year. In 2018, there have been twenty nine mass shootings alone (Gun Violence Archive). The safety of all Americans are called into jeopardy, so the paramount question is, to what extent should the distribution and utilization of guns be regulated by the government? Problem/Issue Overview: The whole gun control issue has been a highly controversial problem in the U.S for the past couple of decades. From store robberies to school shootings when violence and guns come together the issue does not end well. The nation should act stricter on gun laws and become more aware of the outcome of allowing students to walk around with firearms on campus. The Columbine, Sandy Hook, and Virginia Tech shootings demonstrate the tragedies guns on campus lead to.

Gun control has been a big factor in today’s society, now days it is often to see people getting their lives taken from them due to guns. Having researched one side of the issue, that gun violence had increased over the last year. Having researched the other side of the issue, more gun owners are feeling their rights are being taken little by little. There is no question this is a complicated issue that will require a complicated answer.

Gun control is what restricts people from buying and using guns, but these laws are not strengthened at the extent they need to be strengthened. This leads to many people getting these guns and using them to cause mass shootings all over the U.S. For example, according to the Council on Foreign Relationship, a news article that covers major world issues, in 2017, mass shootings at a music festival in Las Vegas and at a church near San Antonio have rekindled the gun control debate (“U.S. Gun Policy: Global Comparisons”). The fact that gun control is still not tightened is a huge margin and error, and still causes mass shootings as we just covered. Many people have said that we should not allow guns to be purchased, which would seem like the logical option. Strict regulations and limitations have been pursued already and clearly do not suffice. Statics brought to attention by gun control opponents, show that gun control laws have done little to reduce crime rates. Several restrictions have been made on certain guns, considered as overly dangerous, though in the hands of an unstable criminal even a legal hunting gun can be deadly. Countless restrictions have been made, however people have still found ways around them. If people are unstable and determined enough, they will find a gun, regardless of the restrictions or regulations.

Proponents argue that, if the government strictly controls the ownership of guns, such tragedies can be prevented. Most Americans have an obsession with guns because the law allows them to do so. The use of and the owning of guns is a very hot and debated topic in society today. For many, this is a life and death debate due to the recent and numerous school shootings. These school shootings have caused an outcry for more gun control, specifically in relation to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. Despite these calls, increased gun control is not the answer. Most gun owners’ use their guns responsibly and for good purposes.

Gun Control in America Gun control in America is a highly debated subject. James Wilson speaks against gun control in his article “Gun Control Isn’t the Answer”. Gun laws need to be more restricted. Gun control reform is needed to safeguard children and prevent access to those with mental illness and a criminal background. Wilson talks about the shooting at Virginia Tech using it as a platform to talk about people not weapons being responsible for the tragedy.

The authors provide two possible reasons why these laws are ineffective; 1) these laws do not effect criminal behavior and their efforts to obtain weapons illegally, and 2) these laws focus on normal gun purchases and don 't account for private sales and guns passed down through families. This article is a very creditable source; one reason is because it looks directly at statistics instead of being based solely on opinion. Secondly, this article is also peer reviewed article; this means that other individuals have critiqued these authors research and found it to be accurate. This source will be very useful to my paper because it takes statistical approach approach the the situation instead of a opinionated one.

Everyday in the United States, ninety families are changed forever; guns claim an average of ninety lives every day in the United States, 33,000 lives in a single year. Gun control has been a debate in the United States for many years and is constantly thrusted back into the public’s attention by horrific shootings. These shootings constantly cause individuals to petition the government to place stricter and stricter regulations of guns. However, these policies cannot be the solution to this problem. To determine a solution that will be both effective and constitutional, we must look at statistics and research that has been conducted to determine the best course of action.
