Jimmy Carter was the 39th President of The United States. He was born October 1, 1924, in Plains, Georgia. He graduated college in 1946 and joined the Navy as a lieutenant and also married his wife Rosalynn this year. In 1953, he left the Navy to take over his father's farm after he passed away and operate the warehouse with his wife.
Carter soon became a big figure in the community and in 1962 won the Georgia Senate Election. Then in 1971, he won the election to become Georgia’s 76th Governor. In 1974 he was selected as a candidate for president and that November won the presidential election becoming the 39th President of The United States.

When he put in place his Carter Doctrine which would not allow the U.S.S.R to expand he did it without looking at the future.
