John Adams: A Brief Biography

Samuel Adams was born in Boston 1722. He was the son of Samuel Adams and Mary Fifield. He had 11 siblings but sadly, only two of them lived past age three. His father was a businessman and politician, because of this he was born into a wealthy family and got the best education he could get. As a kid, Samuel was interested in politics even though his parents wanted him to be a church minister.

Abigail Adams was a hard worker and had an interesting life. Abigail Smith Adams was born on November 11,1744 in Weymouth,Massachusetts. Abigail Adams got married to John Adams, she got married when she was 19 years old. Abigail Adams got married on October 25, 1764. She had three sons and two daughters,Abigail,John Quincy,Susanna,Charles,and Thomas Boylston.

Samuel Adams graduated from Harvard in 1743, even though he was a very educated young man he struggled getting a successful business started because he had problems with handling his finances, but most young people face the same struggles. With no where to turn he joined his family business, and began to produce malt for brewing beer. In his spare time Samuel became an active writer with the independent paper, he was writing articles on the politics that were in the public. Politics became one of his interests in while studying law in college. Samuel was critical of local leaders in his articles because of their alignment with the British.

The only son of a former President, John Quincy Adams was chosen by the House of Representatives when the electoral college could not determine a clear winner of the 1824 election. In 1803, Adams was elected to the Senate but his repeated displays of independence embargo caused his resignation. In 1809, Madison rewarded him for his support of Jefferson by appointing him minister to St. Petersburg. He helped negotiate the Treaty of Ghent in 1814. In 1815 became minister to London.

In this paper, I will discuss the majority of all the wonderful things John Adams have accomplished in his life and all things he has done so we can gain our freedom. John Adams helped the colonist fight for their right to independence. He persuaded Thomas Jefferson to write The Declaration of Independence. Adams also was the United States ambassador, he participated in The Treaty of Paris which helped end the Revolutionary war, and was a part of the stamp act.

He was the one of three surviving siblings out of a total of 12 siblings. His parents were puritans and he grew up in a religious family. His father, Samuel “Deacon” Adams was a wealthy maltster and merchant and had strong political opinions.

An example of this contribution would be his education. When at the age of sixteen, Adams had earned a scholarship to attend Harvard University where on June 1755 where he was the first from his family to graduate from college. He had impressed Reverent Thaddeus Mccarty who had directed the Central School of Worcester with his commencement speech that he ended up hiring Adams as a teacher. Then on May 1780 Adams, James Bowdoin, John Hancock, and other leaders had founded the American Academy of Arts and Sciences during the American Revolution. The whole purpose was to provide a forum for group of scholars, members of learned professions, and government and business leaders so they could work together even though the democratic interests of the republic.
