Lewis was born on Aug 18 1774 grew up near Charlottesville VA on locust hill with his parents William and Lucy Meriwether. Lewis´s father died while serving in the continental army in 1779 so Lewis´s mother married John marks then relocated to georgia where he spent 7 years there and developed a love for the wilderness. Undaunted Courage is a very detailed and descriptive story with both interesting and slow moving parts. The book portrays the point of view of Meriwether Lewis and his diary entries from early childhood to his expedition of the western United States. The book would be considered more of a resource to a research paper on the expedition of Lewis himself. Not many people would pick this book unless they enjoy the details of the western exploration or the personal thoughts of Meriwether Lewis before his departure and during the exploration. He gained a better knowledge of the United states. It will talk about everything he went through and everything he seen on his exploration. When Lewis and clark started their exploration conditions were terrible because they were always outside and were having to do everything on their own. Before Lewis and clark there were plans to explore the west, there would of been a first explorer named Michaax but they found out he was a secret agent for the French.
