College For Everyone

Even though it may seem obvious, in most cases it truly is very important to have a degree to be able to become successful. Despite some arguing against this, it comes down to the basics. A degree from higher education automatically gives that person an advantage in life. Whether it helps with job applications, housing, or just relief from worrying about money, an education is not just beneficial but becoming almost a necessity.

Adam (2012) acknowledge that the majority of the public felt that getting a college degree was not a good value for money (p. 2). “For example, 57% of those surveyed said they did not get good value for their money with higher education, and 75% said that college is too expensive for most Americans” (Adam, 2012, p. 2). There is interesting tension in the publics opinion in regard to college. Many college presidents have noticed a number of trends in higher education, especially the rise of student loan debt. “In addition, the majority of presidents (52%) said that college students study less now than they did 10 years ago” (Adam, 2012, p. 1).

According to the authors, “(...) Americans are applying for college is that by a variety of measures -as alluded above- workers with college degrees earn more money than those with only high school diplomas” (pg 75). I find this information valuable because students can pay off their debt with the high income job they will receive. The authors also state, “ (...) a mean annual wage for an electrician was almost $53,000 a year, but a master electrician can earn an excess of $100,000 per year” (pg 80).

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” -Nelson Mandela. If a person does not get a proper education, they may find their adult life filled with more challenges than their college-educated peers. Americans should go to college because they will make more money, and mature mentally - making life easier for them.

Education – An investment and stewardship Benjamin Franklin once said, “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest”. However, in today, some people opine that college education is a worthless investment and waste of time. Against this opinion, law professor, Rodney K. Smith, in his USA Today essay in December, 2011, “Yes, A College Education Is Worth The Costs,” analyzes the importance of education in providing people with job and benefits. His first goal is to raise awareness of the correlation between the educational attainment and income as well as unemployment rate.

In her article “Is College for Everyone?” blogger and college professor Pharinet discusses the value of a college education and debates whether or not it is worth it to pursue a continued education. The author’s purpose for writing this article is to attempt to change a popular societal opinion that it is necessary to attend college in order to succeed. She argues that there are students that are often not prepared for the challenges and responsibilities of attending college, but attend simply because they are expected to. She challenges the idea that “college is for everyone” and encourages college students to question how beneficial a college education is for them personally. Organization:

The fact that not everyone needs to go to college is the main point that Stephanie Owen and Isabel Sawhill write about in great detail throughout their essay. Even though the authors do say that people that go to college usually earn more, they state that this is on “average,” and that the key focus of their essay is to focus on those that the benefits are not greater than the cost of going to college. (Page 211, Paragraph 1). They also include a graph right under the text that shows how “on average” people with a college degree earn more than those that are just high school graduates. Should Everyone Really Go To College? College is one of the most important and life changing times in the life of an American. Leaving high school behind and venturing out to the adult world is an amazing experience that every individual should experience. However, young adults from every corner of the country leave college with crippling debt or do not go to their preferred college of choice. College education should be cheaper as it will help families and students financially and give them the satisfaction with having the opportunity to go to their first choice for college.

For many people, college is an important key for their future. Some people go to college for the job opportunities and the new windows it can open. Others go just for the education and experience. A good education is beneficial from many different viewpoints; in truth, it is a possibility that one's adult life could be much harder than people care to think. One can have better wealth, is less likely to be unemployed, and a much higher chance of being closer to your family.

In the world we live in today. Going to college is no longer a choice, or privilege, but rather a need for a brighter future . So the big question that happens to be going around is, “Is College really worth it?”According to Andrew J. The answer to that question is yes.

If a person’s parent or guardian drilled the idea of college into your head, or if they told you ‘do what you want’ or ‘I don 't care’, or ‘You’re not going’. While college is great, there are other means of education. The value of college is a low because there are people who do not qualify for a college education, and also because there are other ways of post-secondary education other than college. College is not valuable because many people will not make it into a 2 or 4-year college, much less graduate from one. To support this, in the article Why College Isn 't For Everyone, it says, “As a general rule, I would use graduates in the top quarter of their class at a high-quality high school should go on to a four-year degree program, while those in the bottom quarter of their classes at a high school with a mediocre educational reputation should not.”

Reasons of going to College Having a good education is very important in people’s life. Therefore, it asks a lot of sacrifices. A good educational background is an important factor in this society. Nowadays, even people with a college degrees suffer from the economic system. The society has become more exigent.

And it is worth the investment.”. Getting a college degree makes for an easier adjustment into the ’real world’. Although it can be hard to afford, a good college education can improve quality of life in aspects such as economic state, social status, and job opportunities. Having a good education can improve someone’s economic state, and help them to move up in economic class.
