The United States should not add stricter gun laws because Guns are used to protect people, guns are used for hunting, and the guns are not the problem the people using them are the problem. If guns were in the right hands then there would be no reason to ban them. The United States should not add stricter gun laws because gun are used to protect other people. People use guns to protect themselves from bad people trying to kill them. As an example, someone walks into someones house and tries to kill that person, if there are stricter gun laws then you might not be able to shoot back at them. Also guns should not have stricter laws because they are used for hunting. There are thousands of hunters across the United States that would be very upset …show more content…
Sometimes people carrying a gun or handling a gun might not have enough knowledge to use the firearm or even know how to carry it. Also some people might have stuff running through their head while holding the weapon which makes it very dangerous for the people around that very. Most of school shootings, the shooter has had a rough life or has been depressed so this will make them have different thoughts which can turn into harming other people. Also, if there were stricter laws on the people using the gun and not just the gun then most of the school shootings that have happened in the passed years would have never happened since the people should not have the gun because they are not stable enough. Secondly, most people even if they can not get a gun they will easily just steal it. Banning guns will not do anything except make people steal more to get a gun which will just cause more problems. Also making stricter gun laws will also include police officers which will give them a disadvantage if they have no gun or have new rules while using the weapon. Therefore if the government were blaming the people using the guns more than the guns, there would be less school shootings since most of them have depression or a disability of some sort. If those people could get help before they take action then maybe the actions they are thinking about doing would not
Gun control has been a controversial issue for many years. Many citizens believe that if gun control is strictly enforced it would reduce the threat of crime. People have the right to bear arms for protection, or even just the pleasure of hunting and recreational activity. With the recent events involving firearms and mass shootings, people are skeptical whether to increase or decrease gun laws. Americans have a constitutional right to own handguns and stricter laws and licensing will not effectively save lives.
Gun control has been a concern of the government almost as long as the second amendment has been around. It states “ A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” The United States wanting to put a law on gun control contradicts the II Amendment by not guaranteeing people a way to protect themselves. I find this to be detrimental to a person's safety especially when crime rates are high in many cities. We should be allowed to protect ourselves and families against the criminal element.
As a Gun owner, I wanted to formally write out the reasons why our country does not need more strict gun control laws. I put many ideas together and i feel that it would be best for our country to not have any more laws because not only do they take away the citizens rights to own guns, they also prevent citizens from protecting themselves and they won't stop criminals from getting guns. Laws that restrict gun ownership do nothing to stop someone from getting a gun if they have already decided to shoot someone. According to John Lott from the article “Gun Control Misfires In Europe” in the Wall Street Journal, “The problem with gun control laws is that they take away the guns from law abiding citizens, while would-be criminals ignore them.”
Gun control is what restricts people from buying and using guns, but these laws are not strengthened at the extent they need to be strengthened. This leads to many people getting these guns and using them to cause mass shootings all over the U.S. For example, according to the Council on Foreign Relationship, a news article that covers major world issues, in 2017, mass shootings at a music festival in Las Vegas and at a church near San Antonio have rekindled the gun control debate (“U.S. Gun Policy: Global Comparisons”). The fact that gun control is still not tightened is a huge margin and error, and still causes mass shootings as we just covered. Many people have said that we should not allow guns to be purchased, which would seem like the logical option. However, according to the same source, Council on Foreign Relationship, some states, such as Idaho, Alaska, and Kansas, have passed various laws attempting to nullify
Creating stronger gun control laws will cause much more harm to the American people than it will good. Gun restrictions are a huge debate in today’s society. It is constantly said that if we had more gun restrictions, then America’s violence and crime rates would go down. When examining statistics between cities with very strict gun laws compared to those whose restrictions are lax, there is a noticeably higher rate of crime found within the cities whose gun restrictions are tighter. In 2012 the CRS released a report showing that the number of privately owned guns has gone up by 56% since 1994; coincidentally gun related homicides have gone down by 49% as well.
Increasing gun control laws or implementing a complete gun ban is unnecessary and ineffective because it will not prevent criminals from obtaining firearms, the dangers of gun-free zones are increasingly prevalent, and such laws would infringe on personal freedom and individual responsibility. Additional rigorous gun regulations will not prevent criminals from acquiring firearms. Criminals are more likely to turn to black markets and theft to obtain firearms
“According to the NRA, guns are used for self-defense 25 million times a year. (procon.org) Stricter laws make it harder for people to protect their homes and families. Executive vice preisdent of the NRA, stated, “the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a goof guy with a gun” (procon.org). There are many more reasons why there should be less gun control laws, these are only a few. Americans deserve their gun rights.
Guns are undoubtedly dangerous yet, unlike most dangerous items they are far more controversial to talk about. There are two extreme positions on this topic that many can fall into when talking about firearms. Some want to ban guns completely, while the other side feels like guns are a right granted by our constitution and do not need regulation but instead, educate gun owners on the proper usage of a firearm. There are some flaws in both arguments. The problem with banning guns is that we should protect ourselves if the need arises.
Stricter gun control should be important to everybody in our country. Guns is dangerous for our community. People need to be aware and educate of the danger of gun, so they can operate a gun safety. There are already a lot of gun in our country. There are people killing other people and themselves with guns.
In the past, the major gun control legislations that have been put into effect have not stopped people from obtaining firearms (Gun Control.) There have also been cases in the past where cities have attempted to ban handguns. After the ban was put into effect, murder rates tended to rise instead of drop, unlike what most people might assume. Crime rates and violence also skyrocketed after the bans were put into effect. Another problem with taking guns away, or banning them, is that the government cannot expect everyone to abide by the laws.
Stricter gun control laws would ensure guns do not fall in the hands of people who would misuse them. For example, individuals who are 21-years-old and below should not be given the right to own or be around guns. For if they are not allowed to legally drink alcohol, how can they be trusted with a weapon that can easily take a life within seconds.
In our country we tend to blame our mass shootings and homicides on guns, but without a human behind it guns are harmless. Instead of banning these firearms all together, which may only cause an uprising in illegally owning guns, why don’t we strengthen our gun control laws? By banning people the right to carry and own a gun, we are restricting them of their basic rights. If we increase background checks, insist on mandatory classes and shooting practice, requiring safe and secure gun storage, and engaging in legal and responsible gun dealers.
Some people argue that they are used for self-protection and having fun going to shooting ranges and hunting, but these fun things aren 't worth the price of human life. Having stricter gun control laws can save the lives of many Americans. We should adopt stricter gun laws in the U.S. to stop these unnecessary deaths. To begin, there have been many mass murder that have occured during these last few years, and the numbers are just increasing.
Guns should be allowed in America for multiple reasons. These include: it is the second amendment. The founding fathers believed that each citizen of the United States deserves rights. Therefore, the 'fathers ' wanted each individual to legally own a gun for purposes of protection. In addition to this, in regards to authorities it acts as a problem for them.
Should semi-automatic guns be banned? Some people agree and others disagree. The main reason some people believe that they should be banned is because they’re the weapon that’s used in most mass shootings across the US which kills hundreds of people each year. Others disagree on them being banned because we have the rights to own guns and that guns aren’t the problem, people are. Shootings using semi-automatic guns only make up a small percentage of the gun deaths in the US.
